This can lead to premature camshaft lobe wear, more stress on the cam phasers and, in the worst case, physical contact between pistons valves and other metal pieces. If some of the most important supporting pieces of the timing chain have been damaged, we should infer that the ignition and camshafts timing isn’t in accordance with the factory setting.
